  Antigua Sailing Week
Antigua Sailing Week has developed into one of the biggest events in the World Sailing calendar. eg 1 starts in St. Maarten, as the Heineken Regatta in early March , followed by the BVI (British Virgin Islands) Spring Regatta at the end of March, beginning of April.The races are from Dickenson Bay, Falmouth Harbour and down the West Coast.

Ecover Transat B to BThe Transat Ecover B to B is a new single-handed transatlantic race between Salvador de Bahia in Brazil and Brittany in France. The route covers more than 4,000 miles between Salvador de Bahia and the port of La Foret-Fouesnant and follows on from the two-handed Transat Jacques Vabre.

  Transat Jacques Vabre
The Transat Jacques Vabre is a two-handed, non-stop 4340-mile race that follows the route takenby the clipper ships that used to transport coffee from Brazil. The race takes place every other year and has just completed it's eight edition of the race. This year, the fleet was made up of Class 40s, Class 50s, Multihulls and Open 60s and a total of 64 boats took part in the race.
The monohulls departed from Le Havre, France on Saturday 3 November, with the multihulls following on Sunday 4 November. This race cut across the vast open spaces of the Atlantic Ocean and the crews had to deal with the opposing weather systems of the northern and southern hemispheres.
Michel Desjoyeaux and Manu le Borgne onboard Foncia won the race in the IMOCA class, crossing the finish line 17 days after departing Le Havre.

  Rolex Fastnet Race
Monday’s start was a nerve racking experience for me. My biggest dread of the race was to be short tacking out of the needles channel. Sure enough, after numerous tacks to get me from the Squadron line to Yarmouth it then took a further fourteen tacks before I cleared the needles! When there is only a crew of two and there are many things to remember to do all at the same time it becomes quite traumatic.

  Skanida Cowes Week
We have been blessed this year with glorious sunshine and generally enough wind to get a race in every day at Cowes week this year. I have enjoyed the water not only on an Open 60, , but also on a very fast RIB called Thunderbird One and a motorboat called Blue Ocean.

  JP Morgan Asset Management Round The Island Race.
As the third largest participation event in the UK, following the Flora London Marathon and the Great North Run, nearly 1800 boats took to the water this morning.

  BT global challenge
The route of the race covers a distance of some 29,000 nautical miles (54,000km). It has changed to accommodate different ports of call, but in 2004/5 started from Portsmouth (UK) and stopped at Buenos Aires (ARG), Wellington (NZ), Sydney (AUS), Cape Town (SA), Boston (USA) and La Rochelle (FRA) before returning again to Portsmouth.

Vasaloppet is a long distance cross-country ski race (ski marathon) held in northwestern Dalarna, Sweden, annually on the first Sunday of March. It is the oldest, one of the longest, and in popular consideration the biggest cross-country ski race in the world. Course distance: 90km between Sälen and Mora.

  Marathon des Sables, Desert Marathon, March - April
This marathon is an extraordinary experience to live through. Competitors must carry all personal belongings and food for the entire event in their backpack. Its original "sport, desert, food self-sufficiency" concept makes it a unique competition and a great sporting and human adventure, covering the most beautiful landscapes of the Moroccan Sahara. Its a a six-day, ultramarathon, which is an equivalent to six regular marathons. Course distance: 254 km (156 mi). The longest single stage is 84 km (52 mi) long.

  Stockholm Marathon, May
The Stockholm Marathon comprises two scenic laps around the medieval City situated on fourteen islands, on the banks of the archipelago of 24,000 islands.
It is basically a two-lap course through the central parts of Stockholm. The surroundings vary from the woods of the Royal park "Djurgården" to the streets of a big city. The course passes buildings such as the Royal Palace, the City Hall, the Royal Opera and the Houses of Parliament. The course is one of the most scenic in the world.
The difference in altitude between the highest and the lowest point of the course is 29 meters. Course distance: 42.2km.
