
Bhavik Gandhi is presently the founder and the principal partner
at the
Development Venture Capital Group,
a venture capital fund specialising in micro venture capital
for social entrepreneurs in developing countries. His present
work also involves investments in high growth startups specialising
in Next Generation Network technologies, for converged voice,
video and data services for fixed and wireless telecommunication
carriers.
Bhavik's experience spans Telecommunications, Retail, New
Media, Venture Capital, Energy, Outsourcing and the non-profit
sector. He has also had extensive experience in the establishment,
growth and management of startup companies. .
In 1999 Bhavik was part of the $1.2 billion
Pathway
project team at Fujitsu, responsible
for automating and integrating information systems for 17,000
Post Offices across the UK.
Bhavik founded
inone in 2000, a company specialising
in the development of rich media software for interactive
agencies and web advertisers,
Drawing upon the experience in developing rich media technology,
in 2001, Bhavik founded
Mediacle Networks,
a Rich Media Advertising Network and
Mediacle Ad Services,
an outsourcing company providing ad trafficking and management
services to newmedia and advertising agencies in the US and
UK markets.
In 2002, Bhavik was the New Media Specialist at
Reliance
Infocomm,
a $4.5 billion
initiative to build a nationwide high-capacity optic fiber
and wireless CDMA telecoms network for convergent voice, data
and video services and Reliance
WebWorld, a $300 million nationwide network of
700+ stores retailing Infocomm mobile and broadband services.
In 2003, Bhavik founded
ONE, an online provider
of converged web services the web and mobile. Other startups
include
Mobile MD, Smart TAG, StoreNet, DIME.
Bhavik's work in the non-profit sector includes founding
TelecenterNet.org, a non profit consultancy
focused on assisting governments and NGO's in the deployment
of National Telecenter Networks for public internet access.
In 2004, he was a technology consultant to the Multi-Lateral
Initiative on Malaria, a project funded by the US Government
and the Swedish International Development Agency, for improving
communications infrastructure supporting malaria research
in Africa. Most recently, in 2005, Bhavik has also been involved
in setting up
Telemed Networks, a non-profit
to assist in the developing systems for deploying Rural Telemedicine
Infrastructure. His other projects in the non-profit sector
have included Renewable Energy Systems and production assistance
for small scale farmers.
Bhavik is also the founder and chief editor at
emerginginterest.org,
an open source publishing initiative, covering startups and
emerging technologies.
Bhavik holds a B.Sc in Management & Information Systems
from Royal Holloway, University of London and a MSc in Engineering
Information Systems from the Royal Institute of Technology,
Sweden.
